Mind Sessions
Calm, Clear, Conneccted

Julie Smith, counsellor in Sydney CBD at Mind Sessions

My Approach

I’m a Master’s qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist. My work is relational, which means the therapeutic relationship itself is an important part of the process.

Rather than focusing only on symptoms, therapy becomes a space to explore patterns, emotions, and the stories that sit beneath the surface. At times this may involve understanding family dynamics. At other times it may involve noticing how your nervous system responds to stress. Sometimes it is simply about having a steady place to think.

My approach is thoughtful, collaborative and curious. I work alongside clients as we explore what has shaped their experiences and what might support meaningful change.

We move at a pace that feels right for you, creating a space where reflection, understanding and growth can emerge over time.

I work in the heart of Sydney’s CBD, offering in-person sessions, and also provide online sessions for clients who prefer the flexibility of telehealth.

How I Practice

Psychodynamic
Attachment-informed
Trauma-informed
Somatic

Compassion-based

Exploring how past experiences, often outside of awareness, shape current patterns in relationships and self-esteem.

We pay attention to how you learned to connect, protect, or withdraw, and how those patterns show up now.

We work carefully with your nervous system, ensuring safety and stability before moving into deeper material.

We notice what your body is telling us, because emotions are not only cognitive.

Where helpful, I incorporate practical strategies to build self-compassion, clarity, and values-based action.
